ABOUT
My love of cinema started in 2nd grade when I became the class projectionist. I followed this early passion and worked at an art house in high school and college. Cinema's importance to me lies in its potential and power to affect people and their lives. A film like JoJo Rabbit has the power to change a person’s point of view on race. A film like Dallas Buyers Club can open our eyes to marginalized people. A film like Searching For Bobby Fischer can remind us of the importance of compassion and kindness.
Over many years as an Editor, and Assistant Editor, I have seen a wide variety of challenges in the cutting room. Having worked with 5 Oscar-Winning Editors and 7 Oscar-Winning, or nominated, Writer-Directors (see list below) I’ve garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience to deal with these challenges. For example, I’ve reshaped scenes and manipulated the footage to avoid reshoots. I learned from my mentors the best way to solve a problem is to head it off before it can even begin to flourish. I’ve navigated the ever present politics of post and fought to keep the focus on the story and the filmmaker's vision.
I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the best filmmakers in the business. These experiences have given me a toolbox full of skills, tools and instincts that Editors with larger resumes do not have. With all of today's platforms there are many avenues for great stories to be shared . If you have fascinating characters, as in the limited series The Dropout, or a fresh and unique story such as Palm Springs I would be very interested in bringing along my toolbox on your project.
